Module I is a required component to receive full certification and must be completed before Modules II or III. Modules II and III can be taken individually in either order after completion of Module I. This one-day module presents the following four topics:

• Fundamentals of Hydrology & Soil Erosion
• Regulations Related to Erosion and Sediment Control
• BMPs for Erosion and Sediment Control
• Inspection of Erosion and Sediment Control Measures

In addition to the course materials, hands-on learning opportunities are provided at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Erosion Control Research and Training Center (ECRTC). Individuals will earn 7.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for attending and actively participating in the Fundamentals Module.
